it supports home kit, unlike the current version of OS X (although it's coming in the fall)
so if you can turn them on from your phone, siri on the homepod will also control them.
only thing that's a little different ...
"turn on the lights"
--Phone - turns on whole house
--homepod - turns on only the room the home pod is configured in.
you just have to remember to say "turn on all the lights" when talking to homepod, although i've just gotten used to saying it to the phone also.
