I'm looking for a lightweight (<= 1.5 lbs) school backpack that has at least 3 big compartments. I need to carry my laptop, books, notes, exams (I'm both studying and teaching).
- High quality backpacks are preferred, but weight and the number of compartments are more important. Lighter is better.
- I plan to buy before school starts again in August.

Thank you.

Last i was in school, I remember carrying my trusty old JanSport to class

So back from memory lane, I found North Face bags to be a bit heavy, my Case Logic fell apart rather quickly but my Targus has held up well.

I looked at Swissgear. They are well made, but too heavy. It seems that Jansport has the lightest backpacks.

I'm waiting for the North Face Access BackPack to be released on the 26th.
Do you know it's weight? Thanks.

It's too heavy. A 4-lb backpack is about the weight of my laptop.

This is what I have for now...
Weight: 2 lbs 3 oz. Feels great so far
Thank you. I found it's weird that people don't care about the weight of their own bag while complaining about their back pain. I hardly find any website selling bags that has a filter for weight, making it much harder to find a desired bag.

REI just came out with some lightpacking bags. I don't have time to look it up but you can check their website. I looked at them in their store and they are barebones but might fit your requirements.
