Clean install is the only way to go with new sil macs.
I always do clean installs. Not sure what the point is otherwise. I would rather spend 1-2 hours out of my day to reinstall everything myself than to have something mess up and not work properly.
One to two hours? Migration Assistant is the way to go. Before MA, it was not uncommon for me to spend one to two weeks bringing a new Mac to a productivity state comparable to the Mac that it replaced.I always do clean installs. Some of us keep our current cars clean. When I buy a new car I don’t transfer all the crap and trash I had in the storage areas, under the seats and in the trunk. I consider independently what I’ll put in new car.
Ya, I do too, struggled for a good analogy. But, with a vastly different architecture, thought is was much safer to have a clean base library, tho, I'm sure it didn't mater one bit. Some of us keep our current cars clean.
OP is spot on. This is a big chance to wipe the slate clean. It takes less than a day for most people. Anybody who thinks MA is as good as a clean install is mistaken.
