Likelihood of 17" having LED by January

Hey guys,

I require a new high end laptop for use with logic pro this next year at University.

Given that workspace is a huge issue when using pro audio applications, a 17" macbook pro hi res would be ideal.

I have decided I want a laptop with the new LED screens as I'm under the impression that the screen will not deteriorate as with the current 17" screen.

If the probability of an LED screen coming anytime soon isn't good then I'll go with the 15" 2.4. Either way I may as well wait until leopard comes out in October.

Any suggestions/opinions would be welcome.

I would be very surprised if they don't arrive by January.

Apple need them for 20inch+ screens so they can refresh the range.

Steve wouldn't say that LED backlights are coming and then release a new design cinema display with the old tech inside.

I expect 17inch led screen will be here by the end of September

but, the new 15" LED is not perfect and it is not better than 17" HD screen... only the battery time is better... I would buy a 17" HD now

and a 17" LED is nowadays not available in any notebook around the world... and hasn't been announced...

Because I wanted to gather some opinions... I can't find out for sure, so I need to make a decision on when to buy the macbook, opinions of other users helps with my decision.

If the majority of people believe the LED 17" will come out before January/February of next year then I'll wait. I'm sure you guys/girls know a little bit more about Apple trends than me.

a 17" LED is nowadays not available in any notebook around the world... and hasn't been announced ...

The battery life doesn't even come into consideration for me with the new LED's. All I'm concerned about is having consistent lighting and hopefully a Macbook Pro which won't dim quite as much in a years time.

If it wasn't for those 2 issues I'd have the new 17" Hi Res right now.
 
I tell you what...
If Apple does indeed release a LED version of the 17" in Januaray there will be quite a few pissed off 17" Santa Rosa owners. I am in the exact same boat as the person who started this thread. At first I was just gonna wait for the SR chip to come out and buy a 17"er to replace my aging 17" PowerBook. I was playing with the idea of getting 15" But I think that I would miss the real estate that comes with the 17" too much. But with the LED's on the brink of being released I have to yet again force myself to wait a little bit longer. I will however purchase as soon as the 17" LED's are released.

I am hoping for January as well. Maybe we will even see a little speed bump by then???

Who knows.
