Is there any future possibility that Apple will start giving the option of multiple e-mail extensions, and not only offer just the '@icloud.com' mail extension, when creating an Apple account? Have there been any leaks on this that I'm not yet aware of?

Microsoft at one point offered '@live.com', '@hotmail.com', '@msn.com' and '@outlook.com'. Why can't Apple give us the same customizations and let us pick from multiple extensions? Multiple extensions also alleviates the problem of your name already being taken.

Also with Apple slowly moving away from the 'i' branding it looks like this mail extension is on it's way out anyway.

What do you guys think, what's the likelihood of Apple giving the option of multiple mail extensions and will the iCloud.com extensions be deprecated in the near future?

Slim to none as long as iCloud keeps existing. Does Microsoft still does that? I thought they abandoned all of them except @outlook.com and maybe hotmail.com.
Google's Gmail is also only .gmail.com no choices either

I also see Apple moving away from iNaming, so it wouldn't surprise me if they went to a new email domain at some point. I do wish they offered an option when they add new email domains - I have a .Mac and and .Me email that each get a lot of spam. Wish I could disassociate them from the related .iCloud email address.

However, the company's most popular product and biggest revenue generator is iPhone. I wondered if they were going to name the iPhone X generation as Apple Phone, and use iPhone for less expensive models. But that name is so well known, that I doubt they'd ever change it. And with iMac and iTunes also very popular, perhaps certain iNames will always be around.

But wouldn't more choice be better?

If you have upgraded these through the years @Mac, @me and @icloud are all aliases for the same email address. As cheap mail providers go, Apple do quite a good job, and the name doesn't bother me. If you want you own domain name this is easily achieved with microsoft using MS 365.
