Likelyhood of defects in a MBP?

I just ordered my Macbook Pro yesterday..! (2.2GHz, 160GB HDD @ 7200rpm, 4GB RAM) It's my first mac and I'm beyond excited...

Anyway, I've been reading though several threads on this forum and it seems like a lot of MBPs have been coming with a lot of defects... Is this as common as I think? How likely is it that mine will be okay?
 
No, it's not as common as you think. People are much more likely to post about their problems than when they are not having problems.
 
Most common issue is yellow tint on the bottom 1/3 of the screen.

Various screen calibrations eliminate the problem slightly, but others have taken theirs back for an exchange.

You are unlikely to have anything except a great experience.
 
yup, if you come to a support forum, you have to expect 90% of the posts to be problems, the yellow tint isnt an issue on mine, i thought it was at first but i cant tell its there now if it even is
 
I'd say you probably have a 75-90% chance of getting one without any issues.

This forum exaggerates the problems because people only come here (mostly) when they have problems.
 
If you hang out in any product forum, apple or not, there will always be more posts about defects and other problems than posts saying "Everything is fine". The fact is, the large majority of users never have a problem.

For example, I have one of the new Macbook Pros, and there isn't a single thing wrong with it. But I'm not going to post a thread about it.
