I went to download the new limewire 5 version, downloaded and installed it fine but when i go to launch it says i have JAVA 1.5 and need 1.6. so i got to Java's website and it says to just run apple software update i run that and it says im completely updated. Did they not make a Java update for Power PC macs? did limewire decide to phase out all non intel macs?

anyone used the new limewire 5? is it any good?

i actually have the same problem! exept on my intel mac...

apple would most likely have the java update, i will search for it when i get home and post the link here.. are you running 10.5.6? OS updates normally have java updates in them..

People still use LimeWire??? I gave up on it in 2002 or so because the stuff carried on gnutella was so limited.

I use Transmission which is BitTorrent based. And believe it or not, it does have legitimate uses, most notably as being a great way to fetch freeware linux distributions such as Fedora Core.

Here's what Apple has done (don't be mad at Intel or Sun for this).

Apple takes on the task of porting Java to Mac OS X rather than letting Sun do it. They reach Java 1.5 for Tiger.

Apple releases first Intel Macs.

Apple falls behind on the latest Java versions (by about a year or something). During this time they release the first 64-bit Intel Macs.

Apple, at last, release Java 1.6 on the ADC - it's Intel 64-bit and Leopard only though.

When they finally release Java 1.6 to the public there is no PowerPC or Intel Core support.

I just ran a quick Google search and found this. I haven't check it though.
