open the firewall port.

sys prefs -> sharing -> firewall -> check the box

keep it legal, public domain, etc

which box

just add port 6346 and 6347

Go to prefs->sharing->firewall and add the limewire service. If it doesn't exist, create a new one for port 6346 and 6347.

Or, if you are more bulldog, shut down the firewall, OSX should be a save system :)

Try using Aquisition.

It connects to the same (gnutella) network, and I find it to be much, MUCH, better than LimeWire.

Faster, more stable, and much more OS X-like.

That and Limeiwire is notorious with Geniuses for screwing with people's HD's...

I'd stay away from Limewire. NAsty, nasty app. Don't use Acquisition either. It's GNU software that's SHAREWARE! The developer is a total ass to all of his customers as well. Instead use Acqulite. It's FREE.

GNU = open source

The GNU License is an open-source license. Since Aquire is not free, it isn'g GNU neither. Don't denigrate GNU!

How is he mean?

I bougth Aquisition and have never had any problems with anything

It's one of the few small apps I actually felt was worth paying for.

(Not disagreeing with you - just being curious and would like to know more)

I've never heard of Acqulite before...couldn't find much info on the web about it either.

The author is using code that has been deemed PUBLICLY AVAILABLE by GNU. The author then charges for his software and claims that it does not use GNU code.

BIG difference there, but I guess you'd know that if you paid attention to how many people HATE and loathe and DESPISE David Watanabe, author of Aqcusition.

He constantly deletes forum posts by users who have bug issues, problems with their licenses, asks him why he's breaking GNU policies, etc. etc. etc. He berrates his customers to no end and then acts like the victem, says he's being picked on. I'd pistol whip DW if I ever met him. A while back, there was some site around the net that was planning an official "I hate David Watanabe" club. Shirts and all! :D

Its shareware, just brings up some annoying pop up every once in awhile if you havent paid.

So dont go off on the guy, yeah so hes greedy, but you obviously DIDNT buy the software and later find this out. So quit bitchin and dont use it, or use it like i do, FOR FREE, it has no restrictions.

jeez, why u got like a personal vendetta against this guy?

Put your hated towards a good cause at least, like the MPAA or the RIAA, who are far worse than one single greedy coder.

I HAD paid for it before and my license code wouldn't work. he wouldn't give me a refund or a new code. So, yeah, I do have something personal about this, other than the fact he's a complete and total scheister to begin with.
