I just tried to update limewire and now it won't start. It tries but then quits with no reason. Any ideas? Thanks.

I had a similar problem. Delete your current Limewire contents (except any partially downloaded, or incomplete, files you want to save), and reinstall.

Of course, you could try Acquisition if it doesn't work out.

I run LimeWire's latest version in 10.2.6 without any problems. I do however use Virtual PC software to run OpenNap client WinMX. If you are looking for high-quality Mp3s you might like WinMX, otherwise LimeWire is great for finding .dmg software. Just my two cents. :D

I've deleted everything and reinstalled to no avail. I've also tried acquisition but can't get anything. I have a long list of pending downloads that never change. So...not sure what to do. Thanks.

SIMILAR PROBLEM

I HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH GIFTBOX....IT WAS WORKING PERFECTLY THEN ONE FINE DAY IT DECIDED TO QUIT CONNECTING TO THE NETWORK. I HAVE TRIED TO REINSTALL IT BUT IT STILL DOES NOT WORK. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS. EVERYTIME I PRESS THE START BUTTON OF GIFTBOX IT TRIES TO CONNECT THEN STOPS.

WHAT OTHER P2P PROGRAMS ARE THERE FOR MAC APPART FROM GIFTBOX, LIMEWIRE AND AQUISITION?

delete the giftbox app.
open the terminal.
type ls -a
then hit return
you'll see /.giFT in the list.
then type rm -rf .giFT
then hit return
type ls -a again /.giFT should not be in the list.
close the terminal
download a fresh giftbox.

The Same.

Aquisiton is the same thing as limewire, just without the same interface. if you look closly in the infobox it says " uses code from LimeWire ", they all connect to the same network, gnutella. however; stealing music and pirating software is wrong. Apple has the new music store, grow up and join the real world now.

Only thing I'm trying to get is Enterprise episodes which by the way, does anyone have second season episodes that they can let me download? I don't get UPN here and it's driving me nuts...thanks.

Maybe guys there is a hidden message in the hassles of using Limewire. There is so much good freeware and cheap shareware on Versiontracker etc, and mountains of freely available music on the likes of mp3.com etc, maybe it's retribution for being just downright greedy, sitting in a darkened room for hours on end ripping off those performers and software writers who choose not to give their products away for nought.

Best of luck with your glitchy software!

Get off your high horse. First, you don't even know what people are downloading. Second, this is a question about how software functions, NOT a request for a lecture.

What is legal is a matter for the courts. What is MORAL, however, cannot be defined either by courts or by you. Better men have tried. So if you have something useful to add to the discussion about SOFTWARE FUNCTIONALITY, then by all means post it. And if not, at least do us the favor of posting your self rightous moralizing in the appropriate forum and not in a space for software discussion.

File Sharing

Really, is it wrong to dl music to get a taste of the artist and then buy their CDs on ebay or amazon, ripp them, and add to ipod? i do not think sharing music is bad. It is the corporate music business that makes the riches, while the artist gets to be famous. File sharing is a great way to advertise. Hell, bangbus dot com got started by putting their mpegs on filesharing networks to expose themselves to a greater audience, works the same for music. Again, my two cents.:D

OK then bud, maybe them with troubles should try using MP3.com, no software to download, just click and stream, click and download - and for them that cant afford to buy music, an alternative to the well expensive combo using Virtual PC.

Edit. Seriously spooky, I just tried to download Limewire so i could download some William Shakespeare and buy some music off of Amazon - rather than going to Amazon direct you understand - and blow me, the Installer wont open. Oh well, thats one less moral dilemma I dont have to wrestle with.
