Limitations of jailbreaking?

Yes. How that is considered a reason NOT to jailbreak is beyond me. If you prefer to keep your jailbreak, then do so. You have the option to turn down the upgrade. If the new features are more appealing than what you've gained by jailbreaking, then upgrade.

+1 and half the time the jailbreak you have has more features then the update.
Why don't you ask your friend what these supposed limitations are and let us know? It seems to me that it's on your friend to make his case, not us.

The many limitations are placed there by Apple.
With a jailbreak you get rid of those limitations and take full controll over your device.
One limitation would be denied warranty service if you bring it to Apple like that without restoring it to factory firmware. But thats an easy fix.

Hello guys... New here and new to jailbreaking... I couldn't agree more... All the things I can do to customize my phone plus turn on features that are turned off by default, make my phone much more usable! I can now tether, record video(no need to buy a 3Gs for this) and with SBSettings better manage my memory and turn off icons to programs I don't use much... I use a 5 icon dock for Snapture Cam app, Messages, Mail, Phone, and Videorecorder. The only visible icons on my one "Home Page" are for Qik and iPod. For anything else I hit the Home button to open Searchlight, type the first couple letters of an app and tap on the icon to launch the app. I've had a "stock" iPhone for just under a year(purchased last Christmas.) I thought I'd give jailbreaking a try because it was hard to justify shelling out another $200 to $300 for a 3Gs, I don't need 2 iPhones an extra one to go along with the two iPods I no longer use ... I've also found/ installed the Voice Control app, so my phone now can do just about anything/ more than a new 3Gs, maybe a little slower but I'm used to the current speed and you don't miss what you've never had... I had a (Verizon)Samsung i730 before switching to an iPhone and remember all the things you can/ could do to the phone as far as install any app you wanted to enhance the phone, backgrounds/ wall paper... using the phone as a modem. I had mine pretty tricked out. Now, thanks to jailbreaking, I can trick out my iPhone.
the only limitation is that you have to dejailbreak by restoring before getting any warranty work done at the apple store.
Haha thanks guys. I thought one you jailbroke an iPhone, you could never go back. But you can? Then why not try it out right? But you couldn't get warranty work done if you couldn't plug the iPhone into the computer to unjailbreak it.
A restore in iTunes completely wipes the phone of any trace of jailbreaking. Apple will have no way of knowing.
Okay, so I talked to my friend about it. He says you can't really use iTunes after you do it... Is that true? Can't you still sync? Don't you just reject the option to update? He also said you can't use some apps...And he told me not to install SSH....Any opinions on this?
Of course you can use / sync with iTunes. There hasn't been one app that I couldn't use.
As for SHH, there's a worm going around that let's people access your phone. As long as you don't install OpenSHH and/or change root password from default alpine you would be fine.
The only real limitation to jailbreaking you have access to apps that may cause stability problems themself or with others.
Correct. It will pop-up and ask if you want to update. Obviously you can deny it.

Yes, but you have choice to update or not. Generally, you don't want to update as the it's available until a new jailbreak is available for new updated firmware, especially if you need it unlock to use with non official carriers.
The biggest limitation is that if you screw up (and you can never say it won't happen), you render your phone useless or you lose data you didn't back up.

I do not believe it is even possible to brick an iPhone by jailbreaking. Sure, sometimes you will have to restore; but the same can be said for a firmware upgrade done in iTunes. At worst you will have to put your phone in DFU mode and restore to the official firmware.
