With the discussion about VPC, I was wondering if anyone uses the new version of Limewire. Although programs cant really be found, I dont see trouble getting my music. Does anyone else use Limewire?

For shame. Stealing music. Who do you think we are a bunch of PC users?

:D ;) :p

I refer to my Macrumors Standards here:

Talking about P2P software - Good
Taking about Using P2P software for downloading - What the hell, Are you evil or something? ;)

Limewire is not great but it is usable. I have the 'pro' versions which I get for free.

Limewire does have a pretty bad network tho.

I have no real idea where to get 'programs'. Music there is fine. iSwipe is getting to be better each version, well after they fix all the bugs....
Acuqisition is also getting better... Limewire for mac may soon not be needed in the future.

Well, unless there is a different use for Limewire and Kazaa, then I must be some kind of evil person. I just dont see the point to all that VPC just in order to install Kazaa when I find that Limewire does what it should as far as music is concerned. Those witout computer sin (downloading music) can cast the first stone...

I'll take the fire on this one...

Although I don't condone stealing, sometimes it is in the person's best interest. I make movies for school broadcasts all the time and I often need a particular song on a segment. Am I going to go out and buy a whole CD of music I don't want just to use that song? No. In that case I go to a file sharing program, download the song put it in the movie and delete it thereafter. I know that this isn't legal, but I see it as being a very miniscule crime. My stealing brings joy to others and that's gotta be OK right? (Don't use any drug references or something here, that's just stupid)

You wont necessarily get what your looking for through a newsgroup. Limewire, Kazaa, etc. just makes it easy. I also am 1 that just downloads music for certain purposes and I dont share. Adding to the music population is the true crime. Inserting my CDs and converting them to mp3 and then posting them for download is where the problem comes. That is why the record industry is really shouting lately. They weren't really too upset when the mp3 first hit and was only in newsgroups. That's because only a few songs from a CD seemed to get posted. Now, its all too easy...

My post was only to ask the question of "WHY BUY VPC JUST TO GET KAZAA TO WORK?" Limewire should be satisfactory. Also just wondering if it was working well for you.

People who get VPC to use kazaa don't usually purchase VPC.
