If I show up when the mall opens at 10 and my gf comes later in the day, would that piss a lot of people off?

EDIT: Yeah. I think we are both going to just show up at 2 and take our chances. She agrees that it wouldn't be fair.

BTW If there was a fist fight, my gf would win. :D

Inform the people in line before she shows up, and most people should be o.k. with it.

In reality, it wouldn't be fair for her to come at the end without waiting in line. You may get the people next to you to agree if you inform them before hand, but odds are that someone in line will have a problem with it. I'd say to be polite, and avoid any problems, she needs to be there.

It sucks that you can't get two.

I would have to bend to the ebay scalpers on that one.

I might just have to bring my laptop so I can order a second one as soon as they go on sale.. or get back into line after I get my first one?

Bring a friend or relative that doesn't mind waiting in line, and tip them some cash?

If you were in front of me and your gf waltzed in at the last minute i would not tolerate it.

Also, don;t forget the rumors about wristbands. They may be given out throughout the day and could be numbered. I'm pretty sure they won't give you 2.

You wouldn't happen to have a life-sized cardboard cutout of your girlfriend would you? I can see how that would be a perfect substitute till the real deal showed up.

and this scenario?

My daughter is going to go to the mall at 10 am and hold a place in line for me until 4...then she is leaving and I'm buying my iphone.

Several years ago, when the "Cabbage Patch" things were 'the rage', I had the misfortunate experience of being at a large outlet where they where being sold in a 'line' format.

One lady tried to purchase more that the 'allocation limit'. When confronted by this, she called her friend into the line to make the additional purchases. What ensued was a 'drag-out, punching match between her and two other ladies in line. There was considerable punched, hair pulling and clothes ripping. They are all reasonably attractive, so I remained to watch the clothes ripping. Afterwards, I realized I had witnessed one of the worst examples of human behavior.

Does anyone really need an iPhone on the first day? No....

I would think people would be upset, but she should be their by 5pm, as that is the time they are reporting for passing out the wristbands. Who know "actionslacks" could be right and they pass them out earlier then she would be out of luck.

If i waited on line since 10 AM i wouldn't care if your girlfriend got in line. I'd laugh at all the people who got mad, too. ;)

I wonder if Apple Security guard people are going to yank(ok not yank but ask to leave.) people in that try to do what he is saying...

who knows...

IMO If you waited in line and then your g/f showed up, as long as you then got out of line as long as you let people know that you were going to do that I would be ok with it. If you stand in line and hold a place for your g/f well I would show you what rage is.

A lot of people can not get off of work and have someone willing to stand in line for them, and that should be ok. I guess if she showed up at 6 then that would be different.

If you are standing in line so that she can get an iPhone, you might just want to get it for her and bypass the whole thing. It's hard to figure how some people will react.

stupid human behavior.

Ah, i think you are right. I think they did say they would pass them out at 5.

Either way, I have plenty of friends that would like me to "save a spot" for them, but i could not do that in good conscience. It really shouldn't even be a question. It's first come first serve. If she wants a phone she should wait like everyone else.

I would say this is poor etiquette You can't possibly tell everyone in line unless it is a very small line. And people who are 30 people behind you are not likely to appreciate it any more than the people directly behind you.

Where is the line drawn? Can I just stand in line and have my 10 buddies show up at 5:45 and get in line with me?

It is just a bad idea to do it at all. If she can't wait she will have to wait.
