Line under cellular/wifi/battery in lock screen

I've looked around a bit and cannot find anything about this. But as far reaching as the internet goes, forgive me if I've missed the explanation I seek.

On my lock screen, in the top right corner, under the symbols for wifi/cellular/battery, I have a line under them.
I know its there intentionally, but I wonder what it signifies or its reasoning.

Can anyone clarify this? Thank you.

So the bar underneath serves no other purpose other than to highlight the symbols above them?

Basically to show people that it is an area that can be interacted with. Not everyone is as savvy and the new control center gesture is opposite of where it's always been.

Exactly right, it mimics the new Home indicator.

This line doesn't bother me, but why an indicator on the right side for control center, and not on the left side for notification center ?

Not quite new in the sense that these type of indicators have been around in some places in relation to Notification Center, for example, as I recall.

Potentially because Notification Center is still in its usual place where it used to be, while Control Center is now in a different location and only has a particular small area that correlates to it.
