I like the sound of this app. 2nd line for your iPhone with complete management and wi fi calling when available instead of on network. Looks like a free download but $15 per month to use. The $15 can be made up by lowering your plan minutes since wi fi will not use them.

Was the rejected Google Voice app similar to this? Why would this one get the go ahead?

Yes and no. Line2 uses a different service model to connect the calls while GV uses your cell minutes no matter what.

The developer behind Line2 was actually Sean Kovacs who developed the GV Mobile app which was unceremoniously pulled from the app store, though.

Pretty sure Sean Kovacs has nothing to do with Line2.

Anyway, at $15/month it's a no-go. All of Line2 features can be had for free through Google Voice, including VoIP/SIP calling (with some effort).

I think I can justify the $15 per month. I will be dropping my ~$50 per month wired line, I will be able to port my long time wired phone number to Line2 (can't with Google voice) and get all the call management for the 2nd line on the iPhone. I can find cheaper phone number parking/forwarding services but I would not have the integrated call management.

In fact, the Line2 app was built by developer Sean Kovacs — the same developer who built GV Mobile, one of the handful of third party Google Voice apps that Apple pulled.

Maybe I had a small hand in getting this app up and running… :)

I've been playing with Line2 tonight, had some problem, so I deleted it. Tried to download it again apple store saying no longer available. Anyone else getting this?
