iPhone Linked gmail account in Mail App not consistently fetching

Hey everyone,

Not sure what's going on but just like the title says my linked gmail account in the Mail app only seems to pull data when I open the app. I have it connected via IMAP and have quadruple checked that fetch is turned on in the iPhone's settings menu. I have deleted the account and re-added it to no avail.

Has anyone experienced this or knows how to fix it? Maybe some random setting on the gmail side?

Anyone experiencing the same thing? The problem is occurring on my 6S as well so it wasn't something tied to the phone it seems.

Gmail is finicky on iPhone for some reason. With that said I'd check in the Gmail Web interface to make sure the settings are set correctly on their end. Worst case scenario contact google support and ask them. Good troubleshooting on your part though
