I own a URL and hosting package but cannot figure out how to link the site I have made and uploaded with iWeb so that it appears as the site tied to the URL that I own. I think this is basic but please help me out.

By URL, I assume that you mean you own a domain name?
Have you uploaded your site into the right folder at your host, usually called public.html?

Also, name your home page (or the initial page you want users to see) index.html (or index.php if using PHP, whatever) so when browsing to the URL by domain name only users will see that page automatically.

Beyond the excellent advice given by the other responder here which is the most likely cause, another thing to check is the domain virtual host setup on your new platform, i.e. if Apache look at the httpd.conf. Make sure yourdomain.com has an alias for www.yourdomain.com and also that your web files are put in whatever is specificed for the document root in the virtual host setup of your web server. The other responder was talking about just that, but since all hosts use different folder names, if you can look at the actual server configuration, you'll see what it's actually set to for your platform to avoid guessing. Put your files there.

Beyond this, need URL please and/or domain name to test and see what's going on.
