Linking website name to iWeb built website

I bought a website name from StartLogic and I'm building the website on iWeb. I tried to tell the iWeb to set up my personal domain but the comment came back that I needed to:


Add Personal Domain (2 of 2)

Before your iWeb site can be viewed at your personal domain, you must complete the following steps:
1. Go to your registrar's website. Define web.mac.com as the "www" CNAME (alias) for your domain.
If you need help creating a CNAME, contact your registrar.
2. Return to this page and click Continue.
Your registrar can take up to 48 hours to update your domain.

You have booked your domain with a service that is not Apple (of course - since Apple doesnt offer domain services) and now you need to tell your domain service provider that you want your domain name to point to the appropriate address at Apple´s webspace, which starts with "web.mac.com".

For example, I found a redirection option in my domain settings. Thats just what I did: Instead of the acquired webspace that came with the domain, the domain name now points to my .Mac webspace.

This is what you need to do either yourself or have it done by the domain service.

iweb and Startlogic

I just subscribed to Startlogic hosting service. I'm a MacHead and have began creating a website using iWeb. I DO NOT have a .Mac account. I can't seem to find the step-by-step directions on how to get from iWeb to my Startlogic account.

Do I have to have a .mac account too? (I sure hope not)

What has to happen between iWeb and and my Startlogic website?

I am publishing my iWeb pages to a folder.

I tried just dragging that folder onto my Startlogic root level using Fetch. Maybe I did something wrong but it didn't work. I guess it's not that simple.

If anyone has the answer specifically I would greatly appreciate it.

The published folder has to be copied to your webspace.

For example your export looks like this:
Username/Sites/MyHomepage/
...where you have a file called "index.html" in your "Sites"-Folder

Copy the whole "Sites" content to your webspace via FTP. You may use Fetch or anything (there is a nice free app called EasyiWebPublisher or something, checkt that out).

In the end, your uploaded folder structure should be accessible like this:
http://www.yourdomiainname.com/index.html

Notice where the index.html file is residing.
In your FTP-App, you may access your webspace and it could look something like this:
/www
/private
(something more)
--->Make sure you copy the content of the "Sites" folder on your drive into the www-Folder!
