I've been running Linpack on some of my devices and I've found my iPod touch 2 is scoring about 26 average and 28 max and my iPhone 3GS 21.45 and 21.50 and my iPod touch 4 22.22 and 22.50. I looked up Anandtech's review of the iPod touch 4 and he benched it on Linpack and it scored 33.9 and the iPhone 4 scored 34.5.

The only difference is I'm running iOS 4 on my iPod touch 2. All my other devices are running iOS 5.

So why is the device on iOS 4 with a slower processor beating the others with faster processors? Is iOS 5 under clocking them or something?

Any idea? This has piqued my curiosity.
