So I've made, well attempted to make, a VPN server at my house.
My original plan was to have a OpenVPN server for non 3G devices so it could pass through firewalls, and a PPTP server for iPhones
I started out making the OpenVPN server, but quickly gave up on that because I couldn't get the certificates working.
I then went on to make the PPTP server and mostly got that working! I can connect to it locally and over the internet. The problem is I cant get any internet connection through it. the fact that I'm running an apache2 and FTP server on it as well might affect those two ports, but for now there just nothing going through at all, I tested several ports.

If you know how to get some or all of this working, I would love some assistance. I got VNC, Skype, MSN & Mobileme iChat.

Where are you connecting from? The office? Random hotspots?

Any particular reason you're not using SSH and/or SSH tunneling?

What are you looking to accomplish once connected to your VPN? Private browsing?

just about any place I go, hotspots, friends, school etc.

no idea how to use it, I'm familiar with the use of OVPN, PPTP and L2TP.

private browsing, using closed ports, connecting to NAS @ home etc.
