I know not everyone is going to be crazy about this question but I hope somebody can still be helpful. I bought a rev 2,2 MBP in november last year and its been a spectacular laptop ... in OS X. While I've made my peace with OS X I've been a Linux user for over 10 years now and I'm missing it (that's not the point of this post so lets not focus on it ;->). The rev 2,2 use ATI graphics cards and ATI does not release their specs and they provide _******_ linux drivers that have no power managment support so not is graphics performance poor (not that I care much) but battery life is much reduced. I was hoping somebody with a new Santa Rosa MBP with an Nvidia card could try to install Linux on it and get back to me (and others on the mactel-linux mailing list) about how well all the hardware is supported, particularly the graphics card. Nvidia nominally has much better performing drivers (even though their closed specs) than ATI but I'm not sure about the specific card on the new MBP or about the power management features. I'm also worried that there might be other lurking hardware issues. If not .... anyone interested in a used rev 2,2 MBP ;->
