i didnt really see any other place to post this thread, so dont bug me about that, if you want me to move it to somewhere else i will.

okay, so my friend keeps telling me about how awesome linux is, so i did some research and i got refit, and now i can triple boot, into my 3 partitions.

so i now have OS X 10.5.2, Windows Vista 32, and Linux 7.10

now i struggled to get linux working because i didnt have any drivers for it, so i got them off of the leopard installation cd (for windows, because windows drivers can be used for linux), and then i got it working.

but when i started using linux more i got bored, its not a very exciting operating system, the only thing i see using it is for last.fm/music, internet browsing, and thats it.

anyone else think they can help me enjoy my linux experience before i flame it?

You're alllllll confused.

okay, so my friend keeps telling me about how awesome linux is, so i did some research and i got refit, and now i can triple boot, into my 3 partitions.

That's how it's done.

so i now have OS X 10.5.2, Windows Vista 32, and Linux 7.10

Linux 7.10 has not been released, I believe you are referring to Ubuntu 7.10, which is the older version of Ubuntu Linux. 8 is the current version.

now i struggled to get linux working because i didnt have any drivers for it, so i got them off of the leopard installation cd (for windows, because windows drivers can be used for linux), and then i got it working.

Windows drivers cannot be used in Linux. Only Wifi drivers to some extent, but you shouldn't be using that method, as Ubuntu 8 supports Wifi out of the box.

but when i started using linux more i got bored, its not a very exciting operating system, the only thing i see using it is for last.fm/music, internet browsing, and thats it.

I'm sorry.

anyone else think they can help me enjoy my linux experience before i flame it?

hmmm, will do, but about the driver thing, when i got it, it didnt come with the driver for wifi out of the box, it pissed me OFFFFF.

and i have hardy heron 7.10, didnt install 8 yet.

i basically spent like 4 hours, custom installing the wifi driver.

alright, i guess i'll google some stuff, oh and another thing.

i can't figure out how the fudge to install stuff. i go to the install/add programs thingy, and i can't find the program i want, say google earth. so i go to google earth, and download the file, and it doesnt work, and that happened for alot of the stuff i wanted to install.

and, yes i know, so many ands, where do i get all the crazy graphical stuff thats shown on youtube, like moving backgrounds, wiggly windows and stuff like that, thanks.

I just put Ubuntu 8.04 on my MBP and am using it through Parallels. It's all right. It reminds me a lot of Windows XP.

After I finally figured out how to find the disk image in the Parallels OS setup, it was pretty easy after that. I had to go back and adjust my network settings for it connect to the internet.

I bought XP Lite today and I will need the actual disk to load it up. I've been having problems with my XP disk.

Linux was a lot easier to install and didn't take as long.
