Lion and Mountain Lion

I am waiting on a refurbished 2011 Mac Mini server that I purchased last week. It's coming with Lion installed and I have 30 days to Upgrade to Mountain Lion. Should I partition my drive with both Lion and Mountain Lion or just rock the Mountain Lion??? Sorry I have not bought an Apple in a decade. I am still running the Old OS's on my G-4 so it's been awhile. Thank you
