The new Dropboxversion 1.1.1 (available http://forums.dropbox.com/topic.php?id=33945#post-296078) still needs the patches plist to BundleVersion 2.0 but seems not to crash Finder any longer.

can't confirm - had the old version already installed - but it still displays the growl boxes
