Lion > Snow Leopard?

Hi guys,
I need to go back to SL due to my audio interface not being supported in Lion yet.

I backed up using time machine on a external drive before i installed Lion. I also have W7 installed on a separate partition that i would like to keep.


What is the easiest way to get back to SL?

To create a Clean Install (formerly known as Erase & Install) of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, follow one of the following guides:

What is the easiest way to get back to SL?

Create a new Partition, install Snow Leopard by using the BackUp Disc/USB on the created Partition, migrate Data from the Time Machine Backup or the Lion Partition.
After that you can remove the Lion Partition.

Ok, i seem to be getting this message.


You can't use this version of the application install Mac OS X with this version of Mac OS X

'You have Install Mac OS X 23.1.1'


Any ideas?

Yes, thats the real message.

I cant do a clean install... It tells me to hold the power button down and restart as there is a problem

When do you get the message ? Are you able to go into Disk Utility (as soon as the installer starts go into the menu and start it) ? Did you erase the Lion partition in Disk Utility before continuing the install ?

I get the 23.1.1 message after trying to install by double clicking the SL install. The restart and alt install option i get the 'need to restart' black box with power button symbol message.

So both options do not allow me to run the install disc.

What kind of DVD are you using with what exact Mac?

You are booting from DVD right ?

Yes, i was booting from a SL retail DVD.

I found that booting from the original 13" mbp disc has worked!

Strange that the retail SL would not?

Very odd indeed, it shouldn't do that. But then that's often the case with computers isn't it
