My Lion GM install seems to be indexing on every other startup after I shut down the system. Anyone noticing a strange behavior like this?

Do you have other partitions or external drives connected while Spotlight is indexing? You might want to add those to Spotlight's privacy settings.

The first indexing took quite a while here. Has it ever finished for you?

No, it's just the internal drive and nothing else.
The indexing has finished some 15 minutes later but it comes up every now and then during startup, which is unlike anything I've seen in Snow Leopard.

Only makes me wonder, whether upgrading to the GM was a good idea, since it is clearly not ready for prime time (FCP X... go figure). But since Apple is apparently ready to ship the GM with it's new lineup we'll have to wait for an update.

Try this: add your Lion HD to Spotlight's privacy tab, then remove it again. This will force Spotlight to rebuild the index. Might help.
