Hello.
When you buy a new mac with lion, will it somehow bind it to your apple id?

more specifically.. I ordered an imac and it will arive in a week or so. If lion comes out later, then I will get a code a guess, for a free copy of lion. that's fine.
If lion, say, comes out tomorrow, so my imac has it installed, then will I be able to bind it to my account so I can install it to my old imac as well? or will I have to buy the second one...?

thanks

Nobody knows for sure how it is going to work yet. The code for the free upgrade to Lion might be a restricted install that only works with your iMac, or might it be just like any other Lion installer and work on any Mac.

Also nobody knows how it will work for new Macs that come with Lion preinstalled. If they get some sort of voucher (just in case) that lets them download Lion off the Mac App Store, or if they get nothing and their only way to reinstall is to use the recovery partition. Or maybe Apple will include a USB thumb drive with it like they did for Snow Leopard on MacBook Airs. If it does come with a thumb drive or DVD copy of the install, it will be linked to your iMac and not be possible to install on any other Macs.

Again though, nobody knows.
