So my sister spilled some soda on her iPhone. She bought another and donated this to me to play around with. I've taken apart and fixed my share of iPods, but never an iPhone.

The phone holds a charge, turns on and everything still works except for the home button and it won't charge. So I think it's just the bottom part of the phone that is broken. Is this fixable? Is it worth it? I don't mind taking it apart or possible buying a few small parts or anything. I just need someone to point me in the right direction. Thanks.

The dock connector assembly is too messed up for me to clean. I figured thats probably the only thing wrong with it so I bought a new assembly for like $24 on ebay. The iPhone was surprisingly easy to take apart.

You are going to need to clean it out with 99% rubbing alchohol, not 70%, or anything lower than 99%, only 99%. open it up with a metal spudger, soak a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol, then wipe down the circuit board. Good luck. :)
