I’ve been watching tons of pictures and videos about the new OS 26 for iPhone, iPad and Mac. iOS in particular, seems to look the worst right now, because somehow, in iPad OS and MacOS, the effects seem more toned down. However, I was watching their developers’ video on YouTube, and all I can say is that everything about it looks extremely well and beautiful!

But iOS doesn’t look anything like that. One guideline in particular caught my attention, because it’s clearly broken when it comes to Mission Control. They say in the video that clear liquid glass should be avoided when having content that it’s not media heavy, but they are using it in Mission Control!

Please watch the video. What they show there does make sense and look great, but iOS specially, looks like it was put together as an afterthought and not following their own rules.

Yeah the theory from this video looks good, I agree. What it will look like in finished form, we do not yet know. I also think a screenshot does not do it justice, you have to 'feel' how the 'material' responds you touch and movement in real life. I do get that it raises many eyebrows especially in the light all clear screenshots with app icons. That look might not have been the smart move to promote this design.
