Hey guys,
can't wait to have my new MacBook Pro. I am very looking forward to the native apps for silicon - do you know if there is a list out there where I can see what runs native and what is "emulated"

Thx and best

If you want to see your own apps, open system report and under applications you can see which apps are Apple Silicon, Intel or Universal!

thanks a lot - I did not know that. So from now I cannot see which apps will be silicon "only" and which what apps I need to wait for a native silicon app

Silicon only apps have their own label. Universal apps are native for Apple Silicon, but they also have the code to run on Intel.

Just to be clear - Universal Apps contain code to run Native on both Intel and Apple Silicon processors, so Universal is effectively a native App. Most developers will be releasing Universal Apps for some time (years) so that they can run on both types of processor.

Universal apps have to do some compile/optomizimg the first they launch. Office was suppose to be ready. Parallels is working on a Windows VM. In past there was a we site with compatibility of most all apps and what version, also on MacIntouch, though have not seen one there.

Universal apps have both a i386-64 and a AS binary in one file. That is why Big Sur is 12GB. i386-64 only apps require the Rosetta pre-process on first launch.
