So, I've poked around the internet, and this website, and haven't found a decent or usable list of available MMO's for OS X. I was wondering if someone could maybe point me in the general direction of a website they know about?

The only known MMO's for the mac, that I know about are, WoW *played to 80 got bored became a chore*, and EvE *never really perked my interest*.

Thanks in advance.

Here are a few that I know.

Eternal Lands (eternal-lands.com) which kinda reminds me of runescape. Graphics are not that great but was still kinda fun to play around with.

Oberin (oberin.com) is a mac only MMO which I never really got into. Graphics are pretty bad which might be why Im not the biggest fan.

Earth Eternal (eartheternal.com) is porting their browser MMO to the mac at some point I dont know when that will be though.

Everquest Mac is the good ol' days of EQ. Does not have the updated EQ graphics, but has a solid community of players. My big problem is that Sony has not updated the game in 2+ years.

Here are just a few that I know. Hope it helps.

I'm a huge EQ fan, and only stopped playing because the new expansions have entirely ruined the PC side of the game. I will have to look this up to see what it's like. Thank you so much for mentioning this game. Last time I heard about EQMac was that it was a dead game. :):):)

The biggest problem is finding the peak hours of play. Since all the players are from all around the world, you might have to setup specific group times and things like that. I haven't played the game for 6 months now, but I doubt any change in the player base. If you start to play, it is still 15$ a month, but Sony does give you the first month for free.

A few quests are still broken in the game which hurt my troll shaman, thats probably why I'm still not playing now.

Well I'm going to try the 30 day trial, or whatever free trial there is out there for the game and see what's what. I won't have my mac until *crosses fingers* the week of Jan 11th.

I don't think you will be able to get onto the eqmac server unless you have a mac. I may be wrong though, you'll have to check it out.

Congrats on your new mac also!

Oh of course, I understand that. The thing that excites me the most, is that I currently play on a private server of EQ called Shards of Dayala. That game is pre PoP, but since PoP makes the game a bit easier to get around, and reading that Mac's servers are up to PoP, gets me really excited.

Also thank you for the congratulations. I'm super excited on my 17" though, as I fear, by the end of the month it will be old. But if I can get everything right, I might be able to squeeze money off of Best Buy, since I think they might discount the old models.

This can be a problem for non US players. I have been playing on the server for about a year and a half now. Prime US time, there are usually a good number of people online. As for the player base, it has actually been growing since last March/April. That was when a few posts caught a good deal of interest and SoE decided not to go with a new progression server. We had a large influx of new players, some have stayed and some have quit. Even since then, it has been steady trickle of new players coming back for nostalgia reasons.

You can read more and ask more specific questions over at the EQ mac boards. EQMac boards

Warhammer Online: Age of Reconing

Its an amazing game, costing as much as WoW per month I'm pretty sure.
This game is similar to WoW, some people say its a remake, but If you even log in for the first time you will see that all those people are full of it. Its biggest part of gameplay is RvR realm vs Realm. where huge, huge groups of players fight for a never ending war.
^Favorite Game I've played so far, and yes I have played WoW for about 1 1/2 years.
You just never get bored on Warhammer.
Also people say because there is so many people in huge war groups that the Game must crash often. FALSE. When I played WoW I would have terrible, terrible lag in Cities like Org (sometimes even lag out). But in Warhammer, I didnt have lag untill 800 people showed up to fight. EIGHT HUNDRED PEOPLE.

So in my opinion I highly recommend it if you like mmorpgs. If you like WoW you will die over this.

It depends if the player prefers PVP (player vs player) over PVE (player vs environment). Warhammer is mostly PVP I presume. I played some Battle Grounds in WoW, granted small scale compared to Warhammer, but burned out with that quickly. I played Planetside for 18 months, constant PVP combat. I was able to hang in there mostly because of its tank warfare. :) I imagine at some point, except for the extreme cases most people will burn out at some point with never ending combat.

Yes Huntn is Very right, If you dont like PvP dont even think about WAR, it is one of the best of the best PvP Games out there, if not The Best. Extremely Balanced Combat compared to WoW where some classes can get 2-Hit.
It does have great PVE as well, but WoW has many more PVE options I must say.
And Warhammer PvP/RvR is very very different then WoW's, In WoW it is the Same thing over and over, pretty much either capture the flag, or capture the bases.
In Warhammer they added Keep Sieges which are simply amazing. WAR is WoW's PvP done right + much, much, more.
But then again. If you dont like PvP, and PvE is your thing, stick with WoW.
