I think there should be a thread (this one!) where people can post apps that are currently (and temporarily) free, that usually cost money.

That way as many of us as possible get to make use of such offers, and let us bathe in premium app goodness for the least amount of money possible! Some of us have extremely crippled economies (me included).

So! Post some apps that are currently free that usually are paid-only.

If there already is a thread such as this one, feel free to remove this one.

How would we know if a Free app is going to be Paid eventually?
That's not what I meant, and I admit my wording in the first post is pretty bad, but I'll update it tomorrow when I'm not as tired.

I mean applications that are normally not free, but currently are for a limited period of time. Let's say Super Monkey Ball goes free for a week, then somebody could post it here so people would know about it and could make use of the offer.

I wouldn't mind keeping track of apps that are/have been free. I tried to see if people would be interested in this a few days back but it didn't really get going. If we could get interest, hopefully this could be a sticky. Like I said, I tried it and it didn't seem to take.

Here was my thread.

Not just free, but also apps that lower their prices.

I've realized prices are coming down on lots of apps after a while. Those $9.99 games are a rip, but down at $5 they aren't so bad. I just never look over prices once I see the initial price and then move on.

sounds good. I think this thread might be useful. I'll post if i find something. The only App i know of was Simplify. Not sure if they're charging now though.

would an App like Expando fall into this thread? It was released with the first 10k people being able to d/l it free and then they raised the price to $1.99. I was really bummed that I missed out on the freebie. Having a thread like this would be very helpful.

love this thread... all the vultures are coming out touting their apps in hopes of making referral money from people foolish enough to buy apps through their apps/sites

Freedom App is a really good idea. The kind of idea that I’m surprised hasn’t been done before. It’s an app that keeps track of whenever other apps become free.

It’s cleverly done and appears to root out every app as and when it becomes free. Updated regularly, there’s a whole wealth of apps and games to investigate. The layout of Freedom app looks just like the App Store but with prices crossed out as obviously they’re free.

The app itself is currently free too.

Though if you're not annoyed by endless spam apps like: "100 best Pirate Jokes!!1!", you will be very soon. ;)
