Figure it's good to get some kind of list going.

I think I need a USB card (holding out for 3.0) for my Mac Pro, I'm running out of ports. Scratch that, I'm clear out of ports.

So far we know:
CONFIRMED
Macbook Pro Unibody 15
Macbook Pro Unibody 13

AWAITING CONFIRMATION
I've heard Macbook Air will
I've heard Mac Mini won't
Mac Pro 2.66 Front/Back USB (Macworld's worked, mine didn't...afaik)

WON'T CHARGE
Dual PowerMac G5 2.7Ghz

Read this:

Under charging tips:

"When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode."

So any computer can charge it, but only when screen is asleep on some with low powered USB. Not sure how much longer one of these computers would take to charge it though.

Might want to tell my iPad this since it's charging right now as I'm typing this on it while charging on my MacBook pro. I have seen the percentage increase so know it's working

USB - turn screen off to charge

Macworld article on charging:
http://www.macworld.com/article/150356/2010/04/ipadcharging.html

So far I have tested via USB (with screen off):

Mac Pro 2006 front USB ports - charges
23" Apple Cinema Display connected to 2006 Mac Pro - charges
Home built XP machine front USB from 2005 - charges

If the screen is off, the iPad should charge just fine....although it will be slow.

Yes because your computer has the required high powered USB ports to do that. I was linking that for people with "regular" USB ports who think their device is not charging on them. It is, but only when asleep as the article states.

That's interesting....

I've not tried it on any other of my USB ports on my Mac Pro, but it was not charging on the front ports when I tried last night...I was using a USB extension cable though. I'll try it on my Cinema Display later tonight now that I have my data sync'ed.

Another question....

When using a port that will only charge it when the screen is off, does iTunes show the lightning bolt icon next to the battery of the iPad?
