Listen to music while maps/turn by turn is on?

I did a quick google search and didn't find anything on this....thought i'd post here:

I am taking a road trip soon...is it possible to listen to apple music while turn by turn is on in the maps app or no?

I'm pretty sure it works as it does when you're playing music/videos normally when using maps: Your music will play fine, the music will just go quiet while Siri is telling you directions. I don't have an Apple Music subscription myself, but I don't see any reason that it would work any differently for that service.

That's how it works with Spotify so I would think it would be the same for Apple Music.

Yes. You have options for how loud you want the directions to be. I use it all the time.

That's how it works with Spotify so I would think it would be the same for Apple Music.

I have both services and can confirm it works this way for Spotify and AM. Even if I'm using Waze, the music volume goes down while Nigel (UK voice) is speaking directions.
