it's near the mouse pad. cant send pictures, it's too small.
look's like the color is pilling off or somekind of dirt.

how to make sure if it's just dirt or i need to replace the whole upper panel?

its a macbook pro 17" c2d 2.33

please help, want to sell it.

It's pitting of the aluminum, so the only way to fix it is to replace the top case. It's been very common every since the aluminum PowerBooks were introduced. My top case was replaced by Apple free of charge after about 15 months (without my asking even, while the machine was in for another AppleCare repair). Pitting appeared on the replacement top case after about nine months, but it's pretty minor.
