Live Locations in Find My doesn’t work for me and is the same as it was in iOS 14. Does this work for anyone or perhaps it is for certain countries? I am from Canada with iPhone 12 Pro on iOS 15.1 public beta 1. Thank you!

Thanks. Both devices are on iOS 15.

Having the same issue. Wife and I have 12's. Both on 15. I can see her Live she can't see my phone live. We can see one other person we share locations with Live no issues. They can see us.

Apple support has been no help. The settings on our 12's are identical. Very frustrating for my wife. I'm at a complete loss.

Where abouts do you live? I’m just trying to figure out if it is also a country thing or not. And are you and your wife on the same cellular provider?

Same provider. Not rural, but not suburban or metro either. Good 5G strength outside. Very robust Wi-Fi inside. Makes no difference.

If she leaves I can watch her drive to where she is going live. If I leave, it never shows Live, and updates my location every 1-2 minutes.

Seems some have the same issues others don't. If we park a mile from each other on 5G I see her Live , she gets the spinning wheel for a few minutes then the now status for my location.

Sitting in the living room on Wi-Fi on my phone I see her Live and the location is Home. She gets no Live and the spinning wheel for a few then the now location.

If the behavior wasn't identical on Wi-Fi and strong 5G I say it was a slow data issue.

It's got to be a bug. At least she can still see me update every couple of minutes like before when I'm out walking on a trail and such, but identical phones with identical iOS and settings is odd.

The days of looking forward to an iOS upgrade are gone. I should have waited for 15.1 or 15.2. But I was convinced after 8 Betas and the good to go reviews from the 2-3 reviewers I trust I went for it.

Thanks for that great reply. Are you in the USA, though? Or? I am in Canada.

Live Locations worked for me initially in USA on iPhones 12 and 11 on iOS 15.0 but since iOS 15.1 and an upgrade to an iPhone 13 Live Locations no longer works and locations for People in Find My have reverted to pre non-Live behavior. I have even tried re-adding contacts to share location and they are still not live.

Same issue here, looking for a fix. Worked fine with initial iOS 15 release, then crapped out around iOS 15.1 on iPhone 13 Pros. Shameful for Apple as this was a headlining feature and aggravating for us as this was the only feature we were looking forward to with iOS 15. I’m also in upstate NY. We both work in NYC and same crap there too. It’s not a network issue. Sitting right next to her, both of us with great Wi-Fi connection. It’s gotta be software related. Stop sharing and re-sharing location didn’t work either. Funny that I usually get (not always) live updates on my kids’ iPad Mini 4’s. Useless though as those are stay at home iPads. Sometimes I get no location updates for them too. Very buggy stuff.

It still doesn’t work for iCloud Shared family members even after 15.2.

Initially, Live Locations worked for my iCloud Family members after iOS 15.0 was released. However, Live Locations has since stopped working for these persons in the Find My app through iOS 15.1 and even on the latest release of 15.2. I can still see these Family members in Find My just no Live Locations. I have other friends that are not part of my iCloud Family Sharing group that do show as Live Location.

The common thread for my family members for whom Find My Live Locations do not work is that they also have Apple Watches. The friends that Live Location does work for do not have Apple Watches.

All devices are fully up to date with watchOS 8.3 and iOS 15.2.

Yeah it’s gotta be something with the Apple Watch and location for that. Mine also worked with iOS 15 but 15.1 and 15.2 doesn’t. I turned off my wife’s Apple Watch and mine and for the first time since 15.1 was released, we got live location for each other but it was very intermittent.

I can confirm that Apple Watch seems to be the key. Just this evening my son’s Apple Watch died as the charge dwindled and once his Apple Watch was offline he now shows as Live Location in Find My. I have reported this via Apple Feedback here. BTW, Find My Feedback is under iCloud Feedback section. https://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html

Cool, I just submitted feedback as well. I am getting Live Location from both my kids who only have iPads.

Thanks for replying to me.

Hmmm. The person I know doesn’t own an Apple Watch where the Live Locations doesn’t work. Neither do I. Just the same iPhone 12 Pro on the same carrier.
