"Live Recording" for AppleTV in iTunes 8

Would they really need a hardware tuner? Could they not create a "net tuner" in software?

Could this be some kind of live event streaming feature, such as live sports. The wording is not the best, but to stream it would need to be "recorded" with the feed probably running at least a few seconds behind an actual live event.
If a grand plan for
TV is to ultimately displace cable/satt, they'll need a way to deliver live event content too. With today's announcement about HD TV shows, aren't they just "live event feeds" away from being able to claim to be a bona-fide direct competitor for cable/satt (assuming of course, they could get many/all of the remaining cable network shows on board too)?

To me it looks like you have a TV show you called Live Recording... what happens when you try and play the file?
From what I can remember if you record a show with an EyeTV that does not have any info with it, i.e. from a VHS player, then the EyeTV recorder tags it as "Live Recording" and then automatically makes a playlist (usually called EyeTV but that may have changed). I think that is what we are seeing here.

For some reason a podcast of the Republican National Convention, which did not show up in my TV Shows section, was showing up as syncable TV show material in AppleTV.
