I’ve had this live wallpaper set for years and, even though I sometimes temporarily swap it to something better suited to my day, I always go back to it. It was already set from restoring my XS Max from my back up when I was about to try out one of the new live wallpapers and I realized that the new ones seem to be the ONLY ones. Am I alone? Is this a glitch? Did apple really remove all the old ones and now my only way of having my favourite one is by leaving it set or losing it forever? The new ones look good but I feel like they trade a lot of Live Wallpaper’s potential for the sake of encouraging users to set something that hides the notch which most of us have already all decided we’re ok with by buying the phone.

Let me know if anyone else misses them too or even knows a way to get them back again because I’ve become weirdly attached.

The new iPhones only have access to the 3 water/oil drop wallpapers. That has been the case on iOS12 too (it‘s not new in 12.1).

It probably has to do with licensing the images, don‘t think Apple creates them.

Not a glitch apple apparently has this thing against wallpapers. Every year they remove wallpapers, especially live wallpapers. Even worse is different devices have exclusive wallpapers.

That’s very disappointing but I guess I understand if it’s a licensing issue

I just confirmed this with a couple of friends who have different generations of iPhone. We’re all on IOS 12 but each of our phones has a different selection of Live Wallpapers. The oldest phone between us (I think a 6 or a 7) still has mine available.

I’ve just given up and download other wallpapers. Sucks for the live wallpapers though.

Now that I know I can never get mine back again if I change it, I’m literally never going to change it. (Now to see how my resolve stands against the test of time LOL)
