T takosan macrumors newbie Original poster Sep 4, 2009 13 0 Jul 24, 2015 #2 I think I just got confused with "sync" vs "backup to iClouds" of the iOS device. Just wanted to make sure that local contacts data store is not the same as iCloud data store when they are syncing.

eyoungren macrumors Nehalem Aug 31, 2011 30,023 29,133 Jul 24, 2015 #3 Contacts that are "On My iPhone" are on the phone, but are backed up to iCloud if you have that option checked for your iCloud backup. Contacts that are from other services (Google, Yahoo, etc) are not store on the phone - nor backed up to iCloud.
