Local network problems: how to fix?

Occasionally I'll lose local network functions even though wi-fi is working just fine and internet sites are also loading without any problems. This only happens with OS X computers on my network. All Windows machines lose no functionality.

Even after I restart OS X I'll still have no other local network computers showing up on finder, and then randomly they'll come back.

What could be causing this? Is there anyway to restart this specific network subset?

What is disappearing? Window File Shares, or printers?

You're right. Router is a Linksys E2100L. I've just noticed that rebooting the router will bring shares back up.

What disappears: network printers, file servers, NAS, DLNA devices, windows shares, Mac computers.

It all comes back with a router reboot.

I've also noticed this drop happens more frequently after I've had many simultaneous torrent downloads up for a while.

I've always had bad luck with the stock Linksys firmware — for me it seems to get flaky once there have been lots of connections (i.e., you've been torrenting).

Have you considered flashing it to DD-WRT? That's solved problems for me in the past, and it looks like the E2100L is compatible.
