Really? In the largest city in this hemisphere you really think the OP can't locate this type cable???

I would try a place call J & R Music World...located here: 23 Park Row, New York, NY 10038(across from City Hall Park)

Also PC Richard and Son would be a good place to try....the nearest location to J&R would be: 120 East 14th Street, New York City, NY 10003 (Union Square) There are multiple locations however...

Wouldnt they have sutch a cable in the Apple Store?

Maybe...I assumed you already checked into that option, being an Apple User on an Apple site here. they do have a variety of plugs and cables.

There are multiple Apple Store locations as well across New York City of course.

They won't carry it in the Apple Store, and modern day retail ain't what it used to be. Nearly everything like this these days is a special order item that's sitting in a warehouse someplace. You might, MIGHT be able to find it if there's an "electronics" quarter someplace downtown with a bunch of little shops and booths and you spend all day pawing through it.

I used to live in the SECOND largest city in the country (neither has anything on Mexico City, btw, so forge the notion that the world revolves around New York - it don't), Los Angles, and most really specialty type stuff like this is extremely hard to find, except on the web.

By now if you had bought it online it would have been shipped to you already.

I don't know what more you want from me - this kind of thing is hard to find, because very few customers actually need it. Try B&H Photo. If they don't have it, then buy it online and have it shipped to you. If you're looking for someone to scour the city for you for an obscure item that you could easily just purchase online, then you're asking the wrong person.

they are for the use of connecting a mac mini to an HDtv for watching media

Try Tekserve at 119 W. 23rd street. Very large Apple reseller that services music and video industry as well as consumers. www.tekserve.com. Should be able to telephone them and find out if they stock it.

Addition....I checked their website and they list it as being in stock. Don't know if it is in their store or a remote warehouse. In the past I have found them to have all their stock in the store, but can't say that is still the case. See this link.

I have one similar to the top link (Kanex) but bought it through Monoprice. It does the job without issues. After connecting, you need to modify the sound properties so that all sound is output through the USB Audio device.

thanx, so you think theres nothing newer released from kannex that does the job?

may i ask one more thing? can the kannex output sound without the optical cable plugged in and only by the use of the usb port?
