I have a 2G iPhone and Vicinity works well for me. I find the flickr feature the most fun. I feel like a voyeur!

I like loopt, although I only have 1 friend :( it's basically like a location-aware twitter, but you can also find restaurants and other such places nearby as well

Zintin is cool in theory, but I can't quite figure it out. if someone is idle, you can't message them, and you have no idea how far away the people are

Where also never works for me

OmniFocus! - the location awareness makes this app simply great! It will find all of the tasks you can accomplish and sort them based on how far away they are! This app in its entirety is simply the best app on the iPhone

Keep an eye out for Twinkle, it's essentially a location-aware version of Twitter that I prefer much more than Twitterrific.
