Hi,

I am trying to find my .plist file on my iMac running OSX 10.15.5. A guide that I was using said that it could be found in /Volumes/$INTERNAL_DRIVE/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/ but no show. I have disabled SIP etc and went looking using a root terminal but with no luck. It seems that Apple have relocated it in my version of Catalina.

Any leads would be much appreciated.

It's still there in Catalina 10.15.5. Try with sudo ls /var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/ to see the content of that folder in Terminal. You can copy the file on your Desktop with sudo cp /var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/[username].plist ~/Desktop/[username].plist
To view/edit it, you need to take ownership of the file with sudo chown [username]:staff ~/Desktop/[username].plist

Excellent. Thank you so much - the little sucker was there after all. Having problems copying it to the desktop but that is a minor hassle compared to finding it.

I really appreciate your help.
