Can anyone help me here.

I've set up a location reminder to activate when I arrive home, but it never works.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance.

They've always worked for me. Can you elaborate on which settings you have enabled vs disabled with regards to Location Services? Do you see the GPS arrow in the upper right corner of the screen after setting the reminder?

Thanks for your response.

All location services are on including all system services.

I have the arrow showing in the top right and it's active (purple) on the location services menu.

Okay, that's good. When you go to your "home" entry in Contacts and click on your address to bring it up in the Maps app, does it show the correct location? Alternatively, when you're home and you locate yourself on the Maps app and tap the GPS location bubble to bring up the address, is the address accurate to your home address?

Do you live in a large apartment complex with more than one entrance? A friend's won't activate at his workplace because he works at one of the US's largest airports and the address is far enough off from the parking lot that it doesn't trigger the geofence. They need to allow for precise GPS coordinates for cases like this.

I can locate myself at home, which is correctly listed as 'home' on my contact info.

Everything seems in order. I did however just try 'alert when I leave home' and it worked! So I'll try alert when I arrive home later today and see if it works that way.

Thanks for your help so far.

I know that Siri doesn't allow location alerts on UK locations, not sure why though.

Question. I saw that Location-based Reminders kept my location services on (pretty obvious why, I suppose) constantly. How much battery does it take up?

Take a good close look at the info in your "Home" record in Contacts. I found I was missing a space between my house number and my street name, running the two together. Putting the space back in fixed things here.

Also ensure you have one and one only Home listed in your contacts.

I've not been able to get this to work on my iPhone 4 (I'm also in the UK)

When I go into Maps, it says that I'm currently at:

40-45 My Road and I actually live at 43 (I've changed the numbers for privacy).

As noted by others, the location services icon stays on and the battery drops considerably.

The maps App doesn't seem to get my address completely right though:

It appears as:

40-45 My Road
Wrong Part of Town (nearby, but not correct)
England
Postcode
United Kingdom

Normally you'd write a UK address as:

40 My Road
Part of Town
City
Postcode
United Kingdom (not that you'd usually include that)

I've cracked it.

Thanks for your responses.

It WAS because it located my house number 521 about 100 meters further down the road (dead end, I never go that way).

So of course whenever I set it to alert me when I arrive at 'Home' it won't alert me, because I never go down to where it thinks 521 is.

I've set it so it thinks I live at 490. For some reason it thinks house number 490 is where my house actually is. So hopefully it will work from now on!

Now, just have to sort the rest of my issues with iOS5!

are you setting your address by typing it manually into the Contact list or by dropping a pin in the maps app, and then selecting add to contacts, or both, and neither work?
