does having all of the location services turned on kill my battery quicker? is it constantly connecting to their servers to pass data?

Though there is no way to know if they are using it unless you check under settings, right? So it is likely they are not all using it at the same time, though if lots connect for some reason at the same time than that could be a battery drain, right? Do they connect in the background or only when you are using them?

As far as I can tell, simply having them on does nothing for the battery. But...

Having things like a location-based reminder can potentially cause battery drain as it'll periodically check your location by whatever means it can (cell, wifi, GPS).

Being followed by Find My Friends could also drain the battery a bit faster as it also will periodically update your location.

Checking the weather with the 'show local weather' could potentially do the same thing (though most likely it's just polling cell towers and not really hitting the GPS for this).

And of course, having an app like Navagon or Google Latitude up and running constantly checking your location will burn down the battery in a few hours.

Just don't set a location based reminder in the morning for "do x when I get home" and you'll be fine.

There is a way to know if they are using it. If they are using it a purple arrow will be displayed next to your battery indicator on the status bar. Open your maps application and you will see this. I know of only two instances where you won't see that arrow when location services is being used. First is when you have the camera app open. Second is for the list of items in the Systems Services setting (Settings > Location Services > System Services) which run in the background, but you can go there and turn the option for Status Bar Icon to "On" and also turn several of them off if you feel as though you don't need them.
