Location Services not working when using Personal Hotspot?

Hi there!

I just noticed that I don't get any updates regarding weather information on Yosemite's Notification Center (10.10.2) and the "My Location"-button in Maps is grey and not blue.

Usually I use my MBA Mid-2013 at home and everything worked fine, right now I'm on a business trip and using it while my iPad created a Personal Hotspot. Might that be the cause for Location Services to fail? There are no other Wi-Fi-networks around here, so the MBA can't find any besides my hotspot.

Can anyone confirm this? Or test it?

I know it needs to be on wifi for location services to work, so what you are saying makes sense that it would not work when tethered like that.
