Location to place alarms on Note2?

What is the location that files need to be placed for the alarm app to recognize them? I keep placing files in notifications, alarms, sounds, etc. and they never show up in the Alarm app, however, when I browse to these folders I also do not see the names of the default alarm sounds that come with the phone, so I'm guessing I am in the wrong locations. I am browsing the device and not the SD card.

You need to be rooted to get into the system files. All media file types are located in System/Media/Audio.

Remember, you can be rooted and still have the phone completely stock looking. Rooting only allows access to the root files of your phone/tablet. And it is very easy to do.

I was able to move an audio file to make a custom ringer when a person calls me.

So you need to be rooted to add new alarm files?

No root needed. Just create a folder named 'Alarms' in your internal SD card, put your mp3s there and they should appear in the alarm ringtones's list (you might need to reboot your phone).

and I copied a .mp3, .ogg and a .wav file into this folder and none of them show up as available options in the alarm app.

Even though it is called /sdcard/Alarms
i do not think it is actually on the SD card. Does it need to be on the SD card?
Any other ideas why it is not working?

/sdcard/Alarms is in the built-in "sdcard" (really just a partition on the internal memory). So that is the correct location.

Placing the sound files into that folder should cause them to show up when you create an alarm.

But you can put them in any folder as well. For instance you can put an MP3 into the Download folder and when you are choosing the alarm sound tap "Add" and look for your MP3--or choose to sort by Folders and go to the Download folder and choose it there. After you do that the MP3 will be in the list of choosable alarm sounds.

The files can be anywhere you want. The way to use them as ringtones or alarms is quite easy actually. Use the default Music player on your Note 2 and select the song you'll like to use by pressing it for few seconds. This should bring up a menu where you can select an option called Set as. From there you can select either Phone ringtone, Caller ringtone and Alarm ringtone and you are done.
