So in the new design are the pulldown and pullup screens the same no matter where you are:

1. Pull down brings down notifications/spotlight search from anywhere? Spotlight is always there?

2. Once you have pulled down notifications you can slide left for widgets? From anywhere?

3. And once you pulldown camera is slide right?

4. Same with control center?

They aren not always the same (based on what I've gathered from articles, threads, etc.):

1. Search seems to be there in notification center as a new item in all cases as I recall.

2. Widgets only appear there if you go to notification center from within an app (or basically when you are not on a home screen, locked or unlocked).

3. I was/am under the impression that the slide to the right for the camera was only on the lock screen and isn't related to notification center at all.

4. Control center depends on where you have it enabled, but other than that it should work the same way, remembering what view of it you were on when you used it last.

Thanks for the explanation

I really wish that pull down anyone on the home or apps screens got one to spotlight search. Now one has to go all the way to the top to get to search. When one pills down on the home screen I get a dark blue screen with a black keyboard but it doesn't seem to do anything. What is that for?

A bug on your phone, try rebooting your phone and see if Spotlight comes up like it is supposed to. Works fine on mine.
