So my phone (7+) is protected by a passcode and touch ID. Sometimes when I get notifications and I swipe right to respond to them my phone unlocks instantly and I'm in the app. Other times when I swipe right it prompts me with the passcode. Anyone know why this is? I thought it should always ask me for the passcode or touch ID?

Also if I use touch ID to respond to messages right on the lock screen it's the same thing. Sometimes it'll ask me for my passcode and other times it'll just let me reply.

This seems like a security flaw. Maybe a glitch? I need some help on this.

Are you sure you're not unlocking it without realizing you are? If you just lift it with your finger on the TouchID it will unlock without actually changing the screen. It is actually pretty sensitive and reads really quickly so you won't notice it a lot of times.

Maybe you are resting your finger on touchID. Does it say unlocked in the status bar when this happens?

That's what I'm hoping happens without me realizing it. The home button on this phone is pretty sensitive so maybe I just don't realize I'm unlocking the phone. I almost always use the home button to turn the screen on so it could be that.

I'm gonna test it out some more and see.

With iOS 10 unless you have rest to unlock enabled using the home button to wake can unlock the phone but keep it on the lock screen. So if you have the widget page/notification center turned off on the lock screen you can authenticate with TouchID then have access to those things.

This happens to me too. It's hard to replicate so I haven't figured out what I'm doing differently that sometimes causes the passcode screen to appear. Usually it works fine, but then the glitch. Hope it's fixed in an update.

I don't think this is a glitch. Watch closely to the locked status at the top of the screen. Behavior would seem to be identical, but if you unlock the phone first, when you tap on a widget, you will be taken directly to it. If you have not yet unlocked the phone, behavior will appear the same until you tap on a widget. At that time it will prompt you for your passcode.
