Lock the screen

Is there any difference between lock the screen with ctrl+shift+eject and keychain acces ? i mean does any of this quit your running apps?

All that key combination does is put the display to sleep. It doesn't quit anything, just turns to display off.

And what do you mean by keychain access? Keychain Access is a Utility built into OS X that lets you access your passwords/ keychains.

If you open up Keychain prefs, there is a checkbox under General to Show keychain status in menu bar. If that is checked, you'll see a Lock in the menu bar. You can click on that and choose "Lock Screen" and it will do just that which requires your login password to get back in.
