is it atall possible to lock an individual application or folder if so how???

thanks in advance (im running tiger)

You mean lock it so another user can't use it?

For app, you'll have to use the Parental Controls to allow/disallow users into Applications. But for locking of folders, you should try using an password encrypted disk image to store data in. There's no facility for locking of folders. Maybe a 3rd party application, but so far I've not heard of any that are decent.

To lock an individual folder, click on the folder and "get info" (cmd + i) Then change everything under the "Ownership and permission" menu to "no access".

I'm think this is the right way but an encrypted disk image would be better. There are a few posts on how to do this, i forget how.

no not a lifer just a mac nooooobie but loving it so far, bought a g4 17" powerbook 3 weeks ago. have been using windows for a few years but finally seen the light!! pretty sure i wont be looking back, my powerbook came with panther but just installed tiger the other day its soooooooo good really like it thanks for the help
